She used the owlery almost as a way of escape, tending to head up there when most other students weren't around so that she and Pip could be alone while they spent time together. She considered Falkhor to be her best friend, but Pip was something more than that. She couldn't explain the bond she felt between her and the owl, but whenever she felt bad, Pip always knew to be there, and sometimes Falkhor was a bit... Off in that arena.

He tried, but sorry Falk. Pip was better at reading her feelings.

So she headed up there, Falk in tow since he insisted on coming to see his owl, a little treat in the pocket of her cloak Pip and walked inside, calling for her owl.

"Pippy! Where are you?"

Falkhor had gotten her that owl for her 11th birthday. He'd bought it in secret and it had been waiting for her when she (and he) arrived at school. Ever since then, he'd tried not to be jealous of the little guy since it was silly to be jealous of a bird.

Pip was nesting with his best friend, Artemis, who was Falkhor's barn owl. He was a noisy, messy bird he'd bought off of a friend three years ago, and the pair of them immediately hit it off just like the twins did. Where Pip adored Vidalia, Artemis wasn't so fond of either of them, and stayed put on his perch while the littler owl flew down, hopping about for trees.

"He still acts like a hatchling," Falkhor observed. He couldn't smother a smile. The little bird was always adorable, and he liked how his sister reacted to him.

"Of course he does. He's happy and that makes him feel young. Huh Pippy?"

The little owl trilled and swirled down, perching happily on her shoulder while she gave him a treat

"Artemis is grumpy as ever though."

"He isn't grumpy," Falk protested. "He's just...opinionated."

As if in response, the owl hooted, moody. He was clearly grumpy.

"Ignore that," said Falk. "He's very happy."

"He's grumpy just like his owner."

She gave him a smug look while she snuggled Pip

Falk held up a finger as a sign of protest. "When have I been grumpy? I am the opposite of this owl."

Artemis took that nonent to bite at the space his finger had just been, and Falk jerked his hand back just in time.

She laughed

"Uh I think he disagrees."
