"He did. He does. Constantly. I don't. I'm not like that."

[Qingying]

Qingying flicked something from his finger out of the window and it immediately grew into a large round shrub.
“Doesn’t take much.”

[Young Lawrence Keelan]

"Yeah, well, think what you want about me. That doesn't change anything," Laurie said hotly, turning to leave.

[Qingying]

"What changes things are your decisions, principles, and the actions after them as well. If you hurt someone once, it's possible for it to happen again." He gave a little sigh.
"Is it impossible for you to listen to someone without considering it as a criticism of your character?
You're becoming defensive and walking away again. Or maybe it's my fault?" The question's tone was light, as if Qingying was giving Laurie an option; not sarcasm.

"Oh gee," he rolled his eyes and then Laurie sighed. "Well if it's not a criticism, what is it?"

[Qingying]

“I am speaking while using your actions as an example, but mostly I was referring to what you said when you entered this Treehouse before: ‘he deserved it’.” He gave a small, amused smile. “Well you said ‘fucking’, though.”

"I know that. I was mad at the time."

[Qingying]

He nodded, and then after a pause, he said, “Sometimes… what someone says when angry… or when intoxicated… or even as a joke, is what they actually feel.” He shook his head. “Being angry does not mean that, if this continues, you will not hurt someone in anger – something that you do not intend or will regret. There is also the person who becomes hurt, too."

"Well I can't promise I'll never hurt another person," Laurie stated.

[Qingying]

“But nobody deserves the Cruciatus Curse.”

[Young Lawrence Keelan]

"I don't think it's that simple, but I agree that Fergus didn't."

[Qingying]

“Would you have a lower limit?”

[Young Lawrence Keelan]

"Do I have a limit of people who I think deserve it?" he blinked at the phrasing.

[Qingying]

“Do you have a limit below which you would not go – how much you would hurt someone and what would you do.”

[Young Lawrence Keelan]

That question seemed to hit him with physical force, and he inhaled sharply. "I have to get back to the tower."

[Qingying]

He watched him for a couple of seconds, and turned a hand over with a small tilt of his hand, signalling he was letting him go.

He stalked out as quickly as he could without looking back, shoulders tight and hunched.
