Und Eine Nacht

Uagadou is the Ugandan wizarding school, located in the Mountains of the Moon in western Uganda. It is the largest of the eleven wizarding schools, accepting students from all over Africa. Visitors to the school speak of a stunning edifice carved out of the mountainside and shrouded in mist, so that it sometimes appears simply to float in mid-air.

Und Eine Nacht

Post by Mulekwa Mugaba » Sun Nov 19, 2017 6:48 am

The days slipped quickly by into a routine Ochen found herself quick to adapt to. The other instructors were friendly, most of the students were eager and bright; truth be told, whatever worries she had about coming her were easy to dismiss only a few days in.

Of course, there was that worry, but you know. Everything else.

They did not really see much of each other in the four days that followed his class. There were meals, and times in hallways or evenings in the staff lounge, but there was always a distance, task, or person between them, just like there had always been. So why did it feel so contrived now?

Mulekwa found himself one morning restless. He hadn't any classes until the afternoon, so he sought out Ochen's as she had come to his, pausing to stand hopefully unnoticed at the entrance.

While many of the Wizarding schools across the globe did not offer specified healing classes- reserving such arts for post-secondary studies and specialized training (healing was a delicate and difficult art and could not be practiced to any efficiency on inanimate objects, so practically it made sense)- Uagadou tended to do things a little differently. As such, all the healing-related topics from various subjects (healing plants from herbology class, remedies from potions, etc.) had been amalgamated into the advanced class that Ochen now taught.

Her students were serious and attentive, thankfully, and she was grateful she did not have to endure the somewhat spastic nature and hyper-active energy of the earlier year students. Today, she held aloft a potted plant as she faced the room of students- each with their own clay pots, "This is the ukarabati mizizi. Each one of them is a carefully transplanted root-set from a larger plant. It's a sturdy and resilient root but the seeds are not easily accessible and it has difficulty prolificating."

Zesiro, the non-mute twin, raised his hand.

His plant was a bit sickly. Not all of them were perfect, of course, and someone was bound to get the one with curling leaves, a sign of a fungus that could be treated. "Why are the seeds inaccessible, teacher?"

"They are hidden." Ochen explained, setting down her own pot as she moved around the desk to inspect his, her fingers gingerly touching the edge of the curled leaves, "Like so many things- in life and nature- hidden to keep themselves safe but with the pitfall of rotting alone and unsewn." she pointed to his plant, "This will need to be treated. Remain after class."

The twin seemed disheartened by the command and his shoulders sank a bit as he looked down at the plant. "Am I to be held accountable for this? It is not my fault it rotted."
